Germany Gives Indonesia 166.5 Million Euros For Green Energy

JAKARTA - Indonesian and German development cooperation for the next two years. Germany also poured funds amounting to 166.5 million euro’s for financial cooperation and 30.74 million euro’s for cooperation.

Such cooperation is represented by the Deputy Minister of National Planning Wismana A Suryabrata and Head of Southeast Asia German Ministry for Development Cooperation (BMZ), B Vest, which was yesterday.

"The field of cooperation includes the Geothermal approved, the reduction of emissions in urban areas, the handling of other climate protections, and projects to protect the ecosystem or good governance and decentralization as well as regional economic development," remarked PR Hermanto Luki German Embassy, in a press release to Legal, Saturday (10/22/2011).


In addition, the agreed increase in funding with low-interest loans with some 85 million euro’s for a geothermal power plant in Seulawah Agam, Aceh, and in Kotamobagu, Sulawesi. As if coupled with an agreement in 2010, the total aid to 295 million euro’s for the two projects.

"To reduce emissions in those cities approved a program to handle the waste in the cities in Indonesia with an additional credit amount of 50 million euro’s. Germany has also agreed international commitments to climate protection and help with a fund of 23 million euro’s for enhanced protection in Indonesia, "he explained.

The German government itself, the fund expects to be able to protect the forests, which are a source of biodiversity and water areas, which have an important role.

"This is a project to reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD +) and together they continue the project in Kalimantan and Sumatra," he continued.

Next, also agreed to fund for the handling of the Leuser eco-system that lies between the Province of North Sumatra and Aceh. For the German Environment Ministry (BMU) to approve grants a number of 8.5 million euro’s. Further assistance from the German Environment Ministry is given to the protection of aquatic ecosystems in the Sunda and Sulawesi.

"In addition to projects for climate and environment, also agreed the project for good governance and decentralization. The two countries stressed the effectiveness of such programs. To strengthen the role of women and to combat corruption the Germans to give advice to institutions Indonesia," he said.

Cooperation would be continued for regional economic development with emphasis on the Province of Central Java and West Kalimantan.
